Membership terms

These terms are the agreement between you and Home Cleaning Club Scotland ("we", "the club") when you join. We've kept them short and plain. If anything isn't clear, email [email protected].

1. How the club works

• We arrange regular home cleans across Glasgow and the west of Scotland (G, PA, KA and ML postcodes).
• Your cleans are carried out by Home Cleaning Specialists: experienced, self-employed cleaners who work with the club. We match you with a Specialist, organise your bookings and take payment.
• Your Specialist uses your own cleaning products and equipment, so tell us in the app if you're running low.
• Everything runs through the members' app: bookings, notes for your Specialist, cleaning reports, extras and payments.

2. Membership

• Membership is £8.99 every 30 days. Your first 30 days from joining are free.
• Membership is what gives you the club rate, the app, cleaning reports and a regular Specialist.
• If you've been a member before and rejoin, membership starts straight away, without a second free period.

3. Your plan and price

• Club Clean: every 3 weeks or monthly. Your whole home, with at least 2½ hours a visit. Monthly cleans get an extra 30 minutes.
• Club Express: weekly or fortnightly. The basics plus one 30-minute focus area you choose, with at least 2 hours a visit.
• First Clean: every plan starts with a First Clean, which is your usual clean plus 1 hour.
• Reset: a one-off deep clean, priced on your quote.
• Hours are worked out from the size of your home (1 hour, plus 30 minutes for each bedroom, bathroom and extra room, and for pets) and billed in half hours. Your hours are shown before you join and in the app.
• Early members pay the introductory rate of £19.99 an hour (standard rate £22). You keep it while your Club Clean or Club Express plan stays active. If you leave and rejoin, the standard rate applies unless we're running an offer.
• We may change prices. We'll always tell you at least 30 days before a change affects you, and you can end your membership before it does.

4. Keeping your rhythm

Regular cleans keep your home easy to look after. If there's a long gap, the next visit needs more time:

• Club Express with no visit for 3 weeks: your next visit is a full Club Clean.
• Any plan with no clean for 5 weeks: your next visit is a First Clean.
• No clean for 3 months: your next visit is a Reset.

We'll show you the visit type and price in the app before it happens.

5. Paying

• You save a card when you join, on Stripe's secure page. We never see or store your full card details.
• Each clean is charged after it's done: the hours booked at your rate, plus any extras you approved. Your receipt is in the app.
• Membership is charged to the same card every 30 days once your free period ends.
• If a payment doesn't go through, we'll try again automatically and send you a secure link to pay or update your card. We may pause future cleans until it's paid.
• Tips are optional. 100% of every tip goes to your Specialist.

6. Extras

• Extras such as inside the oven, internal windows or bed changes have fixed prices, shown in the app. Some, like laundry and ironing, depend on your Specialist offering them.
• Your Specialist may suggest an extra on the day. It's only added to your bill if you approve it in the app.
• Sometimes your Specialist will do a small extra free when there's time. It shows on your report as "on us" and costs you nothing.

7. Getting in, and changing or cancelling a clean

• Please keep your access details up to date in the app: buzzer, keys or key safe, and whether you'll be home. Key codes are only shown to your Specialist on the day of your clean.
• You can change or cancel a clean free of charge up to 24 hours before it's due to start.
• Late cancellations: if you cancel less than 24 hours before, we charge 50% of the clean's price. All of it goes to your Specialist, who had set the time aside for you.
• No access: if your Specialist arrives at the booked time and can't get in, we charge 50% of the clean's price, paid to your Specialist in the same way.
• If we or your Specialist need to cancel or move a clean, we'll tell you as early as we can and offer another time. You won't be charged for a clean we cancel.

8. If something isn't right

• Tell us within 48 hours of your clean, through the app or at [email protected], with photos if you can. We'll look into it and put it right fairly.
• If anything is damaged or broken during a clean, tell us straight away. We check that every Specialist holds public liability insurance.
• Please let us know about anything fragile, valuable or that shouldn't be cleaned, and about pets, before your clean.
• Your Specialist won't work in an unsafe situation, such as aggressive pets, hazardous waste or anything that puts their safety at risk. They may stop the clean and we'll contact you.

9. Ending your membership

• No contracts: you can end your membership at any time by emailing [email protected].
• It ends from the start of the next calendar month. Cleans booked before then go ahead as planned unless you cancel them (section 7).
• No membership payments are taken after it ends. We don't refund part of a 30-day period.
• We may end a membership, with notice, if payments aren't made or if a Specialist is treated unsafely or with disrespect.

10. Your right to cancel

You have 14 days from joining to cancel and get a full refund of anything you've paid, under UK consumer law. If you ask us to start cleaning within those 14 days, you'll pay for any cleans already done. Your first 30 days of membership are free, so there's no membership fee to refund.

11. Your data

How we use your details is explained in our privacy notice. Your Specialist sees only what they need for your cleans.

12. The legal part

• Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
• We're not responsible for losses we couldn't reasonably have foreseen, or for delays caused by things outside our control, such as severe weather or illness. We'll always do our best to rearrange.
• We may update these terms. We'll tell you about any important change at least 30 days before it applies to you.
• These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts can deal with any dispute.
